Tasleema Nasreen
Tasleema Nasreen. She said Kolkata is like my real mother. It gives me lot of love. She is looking for political asylum in India even though she has Swedish citizenship. Since 2004 she is in Kolkata on tourist visa. It is estimated that there are 35% Muslims in Kolkata. She raised her voice against inequalities between men and women. Her voice is not against Islam but it is against the world of men. She raised a fundamental question and dared to demand equalities for women. I don’t understand why these people having problem with Tasleema criticize her with pen instead of violence. It looks three different people are making there chapattis on Tasleema issue. Number one it could be Tasleema herself. By portraying herself a soft target for Islamic fundamentalist she may be looking for some publicity or favors from western countries. Second our political parties. Congress and Left can’t afford to annoy Muslim vote bank and on other hand BJP got an issue for Gujarat elections and it may pay them well. Third beneficiary could be TV news channels. By highlighting this issue they are getting lot of advertisements. Public of this country should understand before becoming sentimental. Our government should be careful while dealing with Tasleema issue. Since India is very sensitive state as far as religious matters are concerned. Because of an outsider peace of this country should not be disturbed.
