26/11 Terror Attack on Mumbai
What happened- 26/11/2008 probably the darkest day in Indian history as far as terrorist attacks are concerned. Mumbai people will never be able to forget this unfortunate tragedy. The major difference between this particular attack and previous attacks is the casualties. Its not numbers but the category. This is perhaps the first time when most effluent rich people experienced the heat of terrorism. Until now only poor and middle class of this country taken the heat of the horror of terrorism. So this is not going to be the same again. We are going to see lot of action from government. It may be Congress or BJP but tough actions are expected now. I think country has seen the worst of congress party's Muslim wooing vote bank politics. I believe removal of POTA was the blunder by this central government. Not only POTA the BJP led NDA government proposed Federal investigation agency like FBI in USA, but congress never supported and never tried seriously to bring into the reality. They think by doing this their Muslim vote bank may be annoyed. Frankly speaking other than the Nuclear deal we have not seen any major development or reforms from this central government due to their collation partners greediness. Approximately 200 lives gone in Mumbai during this attack. Our home minister (Maharashtra) given condolence by saying that “5000 people were about to be killed. So 200 is very minimal numbers. Such incidents in Big cities like Mumbai is a normal thing”. Now you can judge him and there should be no doubt that such an innocent looking Home minister is a real thick skin politician. How it is happened- By going throe different media reports and police version it looks around 8 boys came from Pakistan sea area. They hijacked an Indian trawler/vessel in Gujarat. Then they came near Mumbai from there they left the trawler and came to shore of Colaba in a small boat. Its not possible to take such a wast level of operation without having preparation for several days by several people. Local involvement is also very much possibility. But one thing is clear, the capability of terrorists were not less than commandos. They were well trained boys. Their motives probably was to rubble Big hotels, kill as much as possible and try to escape along with mob and return to their base. But it was too kiddish to think that escaping after doing such big operation and that is also below the nose of Indian security forces is simply not possible. Who did- This type of big operation is simply not possible by any novice organisation. It has to be the work of one of the very big terror outfit probably Al Qaeda. But they definitely used all the resources of Pakistan including their boys arms and ammunition. Accountability- Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, National Security Advisor N.K.Narayanan, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Home Minister R.R. Patil. Indian Cost Guard and Naval agency is equally responsible. These people should not only be sacked but also be trialled in the court. Preventive and Corrective Action-We must have a federal investigation agency. We must decentralise and increase NSG but we should not replicate at state level because it may create complication and extra burden on state finances. We must have National security act to deal with terrorists. Trial on Terrorists must by held in fast track courts. We must protect our borders with fencing wires or walls with the rough states like Pakistan and Bangladesh. If their border forces prevent us doing the same we must not hesitate using the hot pursuit to the scale whichever is required. If there are any terrorist training camps then for what purpose so many missiles are developed using tax payers money.
